CHICAGO - Lulu's at the Belle Kay has earned the reputation for being one of the country's top vintage stores, carrying a gorgeous selection of jewelry from the 1920's through the 1980's. Additionally, beautiful gowns for the bride-to-be, furs and hats for that special lady, and cute vintage dresses are a part of the boutique's offerings. With this, owner and curator, Laurie Davis, will open a second store, Lulu's on the Avenue, located at 900 N. Michigan Avenue, 3rd floor, Chicago on March 5, 2013.
Laurie's new store will focus on the vintage jewelry for which her store has become known, as well as carry a select grouping of modern jewelry designers: Iradj Moini, Larry Vrba, Roni Blanshay; amazing vintage and contemporary hats; vintage handbags and unique leather handbags by Laudi Vidni. Laurie will also debut a line of her own design called "Signature Lulu's,” signature necklaces using vintage jewelry centerpieces, which she has been collecting for over 30 years, hanging from vintage cabochon chains.
Laurie's fascination with jewelry began at 14, when her father presented her with a string of pearls he purchased on a business trip to China. Her keen eye for fashion developed through her exposure to antiques, wonderful furniture, European clothing and jewelry brought back from her father's travels. With a career spanning over 35 years, Laurie has been involved diverse aspects of the fashion world, from sales associate to stylist to entrepreneur. She's always been fascinated with the elegance, workmanship, and history of vintage.
Armed with a lifetime of collecting decadent goodies and her thorough knowledge of fashion, Laurie is looking forward to her next venture on Chicago's prestigious Michigan Avenue.
