CHICAGO - Antonio Sanchez, owner of Mezlan and a native of Spain, is exuberant to put down roots at the 900 N. Michigan Avenue Building in Chicago, where he opened his newest boutique at the beginning of September. Mezlan will introduce their unique European style and wears with a Grand Opening Gala, complete with food, drink and flamenco dancers from 5:30 – 8:30 PM on Thursday, October 11, 2012.
"A Master Touch of Quality and Craftsmanship", Mezlan footwear and belts feature a wide selection of exotic skins and fine leathers coupled with world-class craftsmanship.The boutiques, which also carry high-end accessories including leather jackets, wallets, belts, bags and shirts for men, has U.S. locations including Atlanta, Las Vegas, Bethesda (MD) and Washington DC.
But Sanchez is quick to point out that the success of Mezlan is not an overnight one. Growing up in Almansa, Spain, Sanchez began work as a teenager in a relative’s shoe factory when his parents were unable to afford higher education for both he and his twin brother. Working from the ‘soles up’, Sanchez spent long hours in the factory learning his trade, all the while attending classes in English and Business to help him move ahead. Then in 1985 Sanchez singlehandedly debuted the brand in New York City and took to the American roads, visiting each client one by one and forging personal relationships in every store that carried his brand. “I was the North American sales team,” he says with a smile. Eventually, finding fans of the brands in celebrities including President Bill Clinton, Eric Clapton, Elton John, John Leguizamo and more, the Mezlan name began to take flight.
“Chicago marks an exciting ‘homecoming’ of sorts for Mezlan,” says Sanchez. So many of our clients are Chicagoans and we look forward to delivering the best of our brand, Chicago style!”
