By Jorge G. Zavala | Creative Director Modeling is a beautiful experience that includes a professional aspect as well as the well-known glitz and glam. Fame is a huge motivation for many models, both male and female, and this drive allows some strong competitors to showcase their best assets. However, it is not easy task to make it in the modeling industry. PdM recommends the following tips, whether you're in Chicago, Bangkok, or Berlin, to succeed on your way to the top. 1. Modelling is a business, and as a model, you are your own brand . Like any business, it takes time, effort, commitment, and patience to become a successful model. Remember that success does not happen over night. 2. Present yourself as the perfect candidate: show confidence, have a good attitude and a friendly personality. Show your personal style, but keep it clean and simple and always make a good first impression. 3. Keep a healthy lifestyle: drink a lot of water, hold on to a healthy diet, work-out regularly, get sufficient sleep and avoid cigarettes and alcohol. Not to say that you shouldn't drink, but stick to the bare minimum: a glass of wine on occasion doesn't hurt. 4. Look after your skin and your hair: use quality skin & hair care products like those offered by M&J Products, keep make-up at a minimum, take off your make-up every night and go for a regular trim. 5. Apply and attend as many castings and go-sees as possible: For models, a casting or a go see is a job interview, and should be regarded as such. Be prepared! 6. Model agency representation: If you are looking for representation within a model agency, or if a model agency contacts you, please make sure the contract is reliable and includes the standard conditions of the industry. Keep an eye on the following points: percentage of commission, duration of contract, cancellation terms, and exclusiveness. These are the essentials for models to get started. On your journey, you will encounter a variety of other opportunities for growth that present themselves. We would love to hear your experience in the modeling sector and how you've benefited from such an opportunity (or if you've had the chance to benefit from our tips!)

-JGZ Guys who look good have all the fun. This is why we've developed a boutique Autumn look-book for the convenience of that stud in your life that could use some pointers without all the fashion-fluff. Enjoy gents (and the ladies who love ya). Get adventurous with your color blend this fall. Salmon undertones and a confident blue makes a man look masculine and ready for anything. This autumn, we're seeing darker colors paired with light pastels, such as navy blues with hues of gray. Pattern suits work well on certain men: the reassured type that knows what they bring to the world. Careful, though, you may want to wear socks for a business affair. Shoes that shine will not only make your attire stand out: they will also make your personal agenda more prominent. According to GQ Magazine, guys with polished shoes tend to have a greater influence in work and with the ladies. A good, tailored suit creates a well-fit appearance and lets the world know you care about what you look like. In return, investors and potential mates see this as a sign that you know what you want and how to get it. Sometimes you just want to put that suit and tie away (or send it to the dry cleaners after a night of debauchery) and just hang out. This look is perfect for the weekend as it is both put-together yet perfect for wherever your Saturday takes you.

Hair and Make-up: Amy Lyn Vo Location: South Haven, Michigan Photography and Edit: Prestige du Monde (PdM) The 4th of July, the most patriotic of American holidays, is here and we've got just the items to show off that hot bod of yours while also wearing the most popular of colors: red, white, and blue! This season, Americana is in, and no better way to flaunt those biceps, bros, or those toned triceps, ladies, than with TheFlagShirt.com's very own tank tops. The tanks, which are available for both guys and gals, are both stylish and season-appropriate. Summer 2014 has seen variations in the class tank up-doed with a diverse-array of styles and cuts. However, the most intriguing and popular part of this trend in giving tanks a make-over is the simple faitez d'etre of the American flag on both street and beach-wear. Burst with patriotism and wear your American pride on your sleeve (and chest and back) with TFS’s nautical themed shirts, board shorts, bikinis, tanks, and more. Who doesn't love the stars and stripes? This look is truly for the style-conscious individual with a hint of essence d'connaitre: all with TheFlagShirt.com flare. The shirt, comfortable with its body-fit snug and colors that don't run (pun intended), is quite cool and really a top favorite of PdM's this season. First of all, it's a tank, which is already a must in this Chicago humidity. Second, the colors are awesome and are truly a step away from the tired ol' USA A-OK tees. Additionally, the affordable $28 per piece for the tanks, which come in a variety of sizes and styles, makes it a big winner in our book. The Camo American Flag Men's Tank Top, pictured above, is crafted with both traditional colors and added zest: perfect for that summer cookout. The classic Red White and Blue American Flag Men's Tank Top, pictured above, is a perfect choice for that certain guy in your life that is both rugged, classy, yet not afraid to show his true colors. Normally $39.99, a special $27.99 promo price is currently available via TheFlagShirt.com for your summer style needs.
“We want our line to be ridiculously bold,” Brett Stern, 41, president of Lord Daniel Sportswear, said of his top-selling American-flag shirt, the $29.99 Benji. “People look at it and it speaks to them, we’ve grossed over $13 million in sales.” In addition to being a family owned and operated business for over 70 years, TFS’s apparel is made in the USA and sold at JCP, Sears, Kohl’s, online, and more. These garments stylishly stand the test of time, just like our great country. Furthermore, after the amazing participation of the US Soccer Team in the 2014 World Cup, there is no better way to show pride in our great nation, sports, and heritage for the best of the best than with these nouveau chic tanks. TheFlagStore.com makes a variety of cool styles for both guys and gals, anything and everything from board shorts to some legit caps with a lil' USA groove. Get your faves this summer before they're all gone! xo By Jorge G. Zavala | Creative Director The 1920s were full of decadent surprises, ornate soirees, and lush moments that both allured our interest in scandal and encouraged a bit of deception thanks to Prohibition and the insider-only crowd that understood the importance of a good elixir and a haute meal. On June 19th, 2014, Wine Enthusiast Magazine, one of the premier publications on quality wine and the vibrant lifestyle that comes with the territory, hosted the Red and White Bash in Chicago at the eclectic Architectural Artifacts venue located in Ravenswood. With a successful reception in New York City, Chicago's soiree was nothing less than impressive and full of "underground glam" as one attendee put it. The evening began with enthusiastic guests coming in, greeting new and old faces, and bracing themselves for an evening of delish hors d'oeuvres and wine, craft beers, and some of the best whiskey in Chicago. After the event sold out weeks in advance in New York this past May, Chicago became the next destination for the insider affair. Over 100 wines, beers, and spirits were available for attendees to savor while sampling signatures dishes from local restaurants. Guests took a moment to both savor the evening's delicieux. The diverse-array of wines impressed and soothed the crowd, but a real hit during the evening - especially among the twenty-something crowd - was the fabulous Kentucky-distilled bourbon and whiskey. Attendees were an exuberant bunch who were definitely not camera shy. You go, ladies! Complementary make-up and touch-up stations were present for those who wanted to get glam a la 1920s. This was very popular and "really added a feel of class" as a young woman told PdM. Amber, one of the attendees and a make-up artists in Chicago, mentioned feeling "great" on the other side of the experience. "I'm usually the one applying make-up and making girls, and sometimes guys, feel beautiful...this time around I was the one feeling pretty, and I love it." Live performances by Brooke and the Nice Things truly added a dose of swing and plenty of joie de vivre as guests wined, mingled, and put on their dancing shoes for a cause. 100% of net ticketing proceeds went to charity partner Wine to Water - building clean water sources in impoverished countries across the globe. Fashionistas, law students, finance gurus, and public relations mavens came together for a notable cause and to drink their favorite elixir. Both attendees and those managing the spirits had a prominent smile on their faces: allons-y a la fete, cherie. Cheers: salud, notre amies. As the evening developed, guests became even more enamored by the ambiance created. "It truly feels like an intimate gathering with 200 of your closest friends," stated Carlie Swanson, a Chicago-local. "I don't know anyone here but my best friend, but I've talked to so many people and we really like what we're seeing." The bash truly delivered an evening of high-energy interactions, rhythmic sounds, and plenty of memories that will go beyond summer and 2014. The Red and White Bash was a true success and delivered one of the most exciting experiences this summer to engage with wine and spirit enthusiasts, apperitif connoisseurs, and the who's who of industry insiders. We look forward to the next decadent soiree, but in the meantime we'll take this craft beer to go.
