Event Benefiting The Chicagoland Area Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and Honoring the Second Class of Pink Tie Guys
What: The Tribune Media Group hosts the second annual Pink Tie Gala benefitting the Chicagoland Area Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. The event will salute the second class of Komen Chicago Pink Tie Guys, comprised of an exclusive selection of male influencers making a difference in the fight against breast cancer. The evening will include delectable hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, live music, and the opportunity to celebrate this exclusive group of KoMEN in the stunning Riverfront Theater along the Chicago River.

The Chicagoland Area Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® announces the second class of Pink Tie Guys. Chaired for the second consecutive year by Richard M. Daley, Of Counsel to the firm Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP, this exclusive group of KoMEN is dedicated to the Susan G. Komen mission of saving lives and ending breast cancer. These men were nominated by the community and selected by the Komen Chicagoland Board of Directors to serve as members of this elite group and will be officially honored at Tribune Media Group’s Pink Tie Gala on Friday, October 19.
Representing a wide range of male leaders who live in the Chicagoland community and have a personal connection to breast cancer or dedication to philanthropy, the next class of Pink Tie Guys includes:

Komen for the Cure – Chicago. “While traditionally a woman’s disease, the reality is, men can get breast cancer and men are deeply impacted by the effects this disease has on their mothers, sisters, aunts, daughters and other loved ones.”
The new class of Pink Tie Guys will be formally recognized at the Tribune Media Group’s Pink Tie Gala, an event that will take place on Friday, October 19, at the Riverfront Theater from 6:30 – 10p.m. The inaugural class will officially ‘pass the baton’ to the new class as we all welcome them to the Komen Chicago family.
The event will feature delectable hors d'oeuvres, classic cocktails, live music, and the opportunity to celebrate this exclusive group of KoMEN in the stunning Riverfront Theater located on the scenic Chicago River. The Pink Tie Guys will serve as ambassadors to the Chicagoland Affiliate, attending signature events and leveraging resources to further the mission of Susan G. Komen Chicago.

The Chicagoland Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® was established in 1997 and held the first Susan G. Komen Chicago Race for the Cure®. The Chicagoland affiliate is one of only two affiliates that operate two Race for the Cure® events and has awarded over $12 million towards the fight against breast cancer by funding grassroots breast health navigation, breast cancer screening and treatment projects, as well as global research. Up to seventy-five percent (75%) of net proceeds generated by the Komen Chicagoland Affiliate stay in the metropolitan area while the remaining twenty-five percent (25%) supports the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® Grants Program for research. In April 2011, Komen Chicago was awarded the Affiliate of the Year by Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.
